I went into my first interactions with Kea sceptical about headhunting as a whole (a scepticism shared by many). Within one 45-minute conversation about Kea’s product but above all its values, this scepticism had morphed into excitement and a desire to learn more. Every interview that followed I had confirmed my initial impression – human first, transaction second.

I love using my language skills to connect with candidates both in London and across European markets.

How does your personal life interplay with Kea’s values?

OL

Outside of the office I am a powerlifter, personal trainer and podcast host. Weirdly, add the three of them up and they essentially equate to Kea's values! Hosting a podcast requires me to form authentic relationships in the space of an hour and listening inquisitively to a guest ensures they feel valued. An essential component of a great episode!

What does it take to be successful in your role?

OL

Be open, curious and accountable. The building blocks are in the day to day - so I look at every interaction as additive and focus on what I've learnt from it, rather than how much there is still to learn! Everyone in the team will tell you they learned something at the end of every day.

How has your career developed at Kea?

OL

I was completely new to both recruiting and finance when I started. Now I maintain professional friendships within finance across Europe and am confidently able to discuss and distinguish between dozens of different funds, what they're looking for and why they're suitable/unsuitable for a particular candidate. Lots of developing to do of course, but the Kea team is the perfect environment to help with that!

Which of Kea's values speaks to you most?

Is it a cliché to say all of them? Drive to improve: if you’re not moving forwards you’re moving backwards. Those that know me know I am never satisfied (drives me mad to be honest). Relationship first: we are humans above all. Every interaction is an opportunity to embrace that. Positive energy: laughing or smiling unexpectedly and uncontrollably is king. Inquisitive listening: what better way is there to learn?
