How have your outside passions and previous career/education influenced your time at Kea?

LM

Coming from a background in Anthropology, I was initially unsure how my more academic and research-focused studies would translate into headhunting. However, I soon realised that many of the principles underpinning anthropological inquiry are directly relevant to the way we work at Kea. Anthropology is fundamentally about developing a deep and holistic understanding of people within the context of their environments, motivations, and relationships. Successful headhunting requires a similar approach. In my time at Kea, I have seen that the strongest outcomes come from understanding not only an individual's experience, but also their motivations, the environment they're leaving, the culture they're moving into and the wider market context shaping those decisions. Like myself, many members of the team come from diverse academic backgrounds, each bringing unique perspectives shaped by their experiences. The culture of knowledge sharing and openness to different ways of thinking keeps the work engaging and creates a strong sense of collaboration. Everyone approaches challenges from a slightly different angle, and it is often this combination of perspectives that leads to the most effective solutions. In a fast-paced environment where no two situations are the same, that ability to think flexibly, learn from one another and adapt quickly is invaluable.

What do you enjoy most about the role/team?

LM

My favourite part of working at Kea is the buzzing atmosphere you feel immediately upon entering the office. There is a real sense of energy and ambition across the team, as well as a genuinely collaborative and convivial culture. People are always willing to share ideas, offer advice and discuss challenges in person. The culture encourages everyone to get involved and contribute, regardless of their level of experience. While the pace can be demanding, it is incredibly rewarding to work alongside colleagues who are invested in one another's development and the continued success of the business.
